Cover Girl...

When Maya was 2, she was one of the children featured for the Vancouver area YMCA daycares and was immortalized on brochures & fridge magnets.  Below is one of the shots used...

When Maya was 3, we were approached to use her (and my) image on the national YMCA daycares brochures and posters (which we haven't yet seen the final result of).  Again, here is one of the shots used...

Recently, we were asked if M could be used in a photo session for the new CEFA pre-school brochures and posters being created.  We're quite excited to see what the final print results will look like...

We have a cover-girl in the making...

Whistling

Me: (whistling along to radio music in car < YES, I WHISTLE!! Don't judge!)
M: Mommy, I like your whistling.
Me: Thanks sweetie.
M: Can you whistle 'Gangnam Style' for me?
Me: (almost drives off road while laughing....)

Day 9 - Panama Canal Cruise - Puerto Vallarta

September 30, Day 9 of our vacation, was spent in Puerto Vallarta.  As a thank you to my parents for their help with looking after Maya during the cruise we treated them to a day with us on the beach.

The beach resort was founded by the late Hollywood Director (and father of Angelica), Mr John Huston. We were shuttled to the resort on a 90 minute booze cruise catamaran ride (always a good way to start a day).  Once at the resort, we were treated to a great buffet and then spent the day doing whatever we wanted, for free.  Mom & Dad relaxed on the beach, John & Maya went kayaking, I went snorkelling, Grampa took Maya to the petting zoo and to get a donkey ride and we all had a great time.  It was one of the best days of the whole vacation.

The catamaran ride back to the ship was VERY entertaining and a great way to cap off the day.  The staff performed many lip-synced songs inclding several songs by 'Queen' (above).  We were laughing so hard we cried.....

Day 7&8 - Panama Canal Cruise - Cabo San Lucas

Our 7th day was spent at sea.  Now that we were South of LA, we were finally able to enjoy the heat and pool deck.  The weather had been less than ideal up to this point so the heat was a treat.  The pool deck had 2 pools, 4 hot-tubs and even a water-slide.  That water-slide go a lot of use...

Our 8th day was spent in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.  Our first stop in Mexico meant a special day for John & I, a day on a catamaran, sailing, snorkelling, just the 2 of us...  as in, Maya stayed with Mom & Dad and we had an entire day to ourselves.  Did I mention the ENTIRE day?  6 straight hours??

Day 5&6 - Panama Canal Cruise - Los Angeles

Our 5th day was spent at sea.

Our 6th day was spent in Los Angeles, CA.  As John & I have been there before, and aren't fans of LA, we decided to stay on board the ship with Maya.  Mom & Dad joined an excursion group and saw many of the famous LA sites.  They are fairly self-explanatory... unless you've been locked up your whole life.

Oh #%*&, part 2...

Well, last weeks language blunder reoccured this week in a smaller scale.  This time, M was working on some art and things weren't going as planned.  When the glue smudged her art 'Crap' was the expression used.  At least it was a bit tamer this time...  (tee hee)

Oh #@&%!!!...

We got a call from M's school last week indicating that she had said a bad word at school.

Apparently, she was wanting to come in from play-time with her buddy Lucas but someone else was called to go in with him.  Her response was 'Oh shit!'  The teacher immediately looked at her and M broke down and cried, knowing that she'd done something wrong.  No discipline was taken but it was reinforced to M that this language is not acceptable at school....

The 20-something teacher telling me this on the phone was doing so in a calm and mature manner.  I, on the other hand, was giggling away.  I fully admit that she likely learned that word from me as that is my expression of choice when I drop something.  Every parent goes through a time when their child curses and I consider us lucky that she's almost 5 before we had to deal with this.  I have a strong suspicion that it won't be the last...
