We're home! The looonnng flight was better than anticipated with Maya sleeping for 7 of the 12 hours and being pretty good for the rest of the time. Our flight arrived 45 min early and we breezed through customs & immigration so were out of the airport in no time. We had a wonderful suprise with Catherine, Maurice, Sue & Carolyn greeting us in the waiting area. Despite our exhaustion, we were able to chat a short while before heading home.
Maya seemed to know this was her home as she managed the car seat, the wood floors, the new crib, the stroller, et al like she'd always been doing it. It was GREAT to be home!
Sleeping the first night was very rough. Maya slept for a couple of hours while we unpacked but decided to stay up most of the night & play just when we had decided to sleep. Of course, she had to have one of us there with her at all times and either whined, cried or squealed the rest of the time so no one could sleep. Eventually, at about 3:30am, she fell asleep for about 7 hours so we were all able to get some rest. The 2nd night was a bit better as she slept for 4 hours, was awake for 3, then slept for another 4. Let's hope tonight is better...
Despite our exhaustion, it feels amazing to be home again and will spend the next week or two adjusting Maya to the time zones, finish unpacking & setting up Maya's room, child-proofing, catching up on mail/gardening/housework/renos/etc and taking Maya out to meet the MANY people that want to see her.

Congratulations Christine!!! You'll get things figured out with the sleeping and stuff. You just have to remember to sleep when she sleeps and the housework will always be there!!! Have fun!! Karen Ford
ReplyDeleteWelcome home! Caiya is having similar issues which is why I am up at 4:30 AM.. I just got her down after 3 hours.. this is becoming her MO for nighttime.. I am trying to get on a schedule, but, for now, sleep, any sleep, is good. I have been taking naps with her as Cary went back to work yesterday. Blessings and enjoy!!!
